Nothing much to say except this: the worst thing that will ever happen to anyone is to be parted from what is most important to them - and for me that's both the lack of computer and being unable to write. For it's so hard to write on paper now, for me, when I'm so used to writing through a keyboard and a screen. Ah, whence come you, oh cruel fate? Depart now!

In other news, I'm quite obsessed with Faramir at the moment (I prefer him in the books but also love his movie appearance - David Welham did a splendid job.)... I could slash him with three people in particular. Elessar (Aragorn), Boromir, and Denethor. ...Yes, yes, the last two are incest... I /know/. -.- Still though, it's /there/ if you look close enough. Heh... Faramir = Angst.

Gah, I have to go. Grr. I don't have enough time to say or do anymore. I really miss having a PC. I'm in withrawal! This is utter torture! Argh!!!

[end rant]

I BARELY HAVE ANY WORDS FOR IT.

...and I can't believe I just shouted.

Happy Holidays to all.

Zzzz... *wakes up* Right, blog. Nothing much to say - still PCless and unable to write. -.- ...Then again, I'm a little busy these days - exams (3 more), Aikido (yay), games (Tales of Destiny -- since I've finished replaying the entire Suikoden Series), and reading (Fellowship of the Ring -- finished The Hobbit very recently). And I'm hoping to get the RotK DVD TODAY! To borrow a quote from Jay, "Whee." Heh... And oh yeah, my brother's home and my niece and sis-in-law are arriving tomorrow. And that's all.

I miss chatting with the furry crew (including you Von despite saying that you are human). *pout*

You are Viktor x Star Dragon Sword!
.................
Uhm well... there was that line about "You sure know how to treat a man." And the one about "a relationship I can't get away from." Let's uh... just not think about the particulars of that one.

Which ambiguously gay Suikoden duo are you?
Quiz by Andrea.

...Hahaha! ...The other results were also funny but I got this one first so... And besides, who doesn't like Star Dragon Sword?

{ 08:28 a.m. | Monday, November 24, 2003 }

...Yes, my PC finally died. Good-bye mp3s, fics, images, more fics (my Riou fic, ah!)... -.- But I'm hoping that those files are still there in the HD - that only the OS is screwed up. Oh well. I wonder how I could fix this mess...

For other news... I was replaying Suikoden 2 (after I beat 1) and I managed to finish it under 20 hours (just a few minutes after 19 hours) so that means... I completed Clive's quest! Yay. And not only that... I also got the 108 SoDs (I got the octopus from the Tinto mines this time, not the pimping unicorn). Basically, it was rushing from one event to another without exploring my ever-growing castle. Heh. ...Also, I finished Hai Yo's cooking game and got all the (winnable) recipes. *grins* This I did after completing Clive's quest... I've also gotten Tir McDohl (Ah, nostalgia...) and just need to get the rest of the (non-winnable) recipes, the squirrels, and the octopus' family. Haha... This is a very serious game but when I think about it now - needing to get the squirrels and octupus... I guess it sounds a little silly.

Was thinking last night -- and Von, you can answer this one... If the True Rune bearers of Suikoden II faced against the True Rune bearers of Suikoden III, who would win? Look at this... (Spoilers) ... Added note: this event could take place during Suikoden III's time.

Suikoden II
- Tir McDohl - Rune of Life and Death (Souleater)
- Riou (Hero2) - Rune of Beginning (get the Tragic End)
- Sierra - Blue Moon Rune (Rune of Vampires)
- Luc - True Wind Rune

Suikoden III
- Hugo - True Fire (Official Info - he's Flame Champ)
- Chris - True Water (Inheritor, after all)
- Geddoe - True Lightning (Was always his...)
- Sasarai - True Earth (...)

.../I/ personally think that Suikoden II's rune bearers would win. McDohl will just use the instant death magic... Riou's rune is so kick-ass in true rune form, in my opinion - with the Black Sword and Bright Shield together, he can both do very damaging attacks and heal very effectively. Luc could both attack and heal at the same time (I loved using his True Wind Rune in III). And Sierra could call on her vampire coven... wherever they may be... (And they said that she was Nash's "missus" so he may switch sides... But then again, that would hardly matter since this isn't army vs army, but true rune bearers vs true rune bearers...)

On the other hand, I guess I wouldn't disregard Suikoden III's True Rune Bearers. Sasarai could help shield everyone from magical attacks (and attack too), Chris could heal (and attack too), and Geddoe and Hugo will do the bulk of the magical attacks (assuming, of course, that Hugo doesn't kill his allies too with his fire attacks).

So in conclusion, I think the True Rune bearers of SII will win out over SIII's. ...Or I'm just biased since I liked SII better than SIII.... Then again, SII had the strongest true rune bearers, I think (magically, I mean). The Rune of Life and Death (Souleater) and Rune of Beginning (Sword and Shield together) are two of the strongest runes in my opinion... And I'm certain that aside from Mazus and Crowley, Luc is the best mage in the Suikoden world/timeline.

...Heh.

My cat, the calico, died yesterday, the cat that I raised since birth and cared for during critical moments when she almost died of inflicted injury... She disappeared for two days prior then reappeared on the stairs without a heartbeat... I wish that I could have at least been there for her last days but I wasn't... Last hobby she had was perching on my lap. I suppose her death's a mixture of old age and her ongoing injury that wasn't being healed no matter what...

Sleepy... Man, I have 730 and 830 every morning for the new sem. Bad time. But then again, most days are only for mornings (half-day, yay! - though overloaded mornings...) and I only have one subject during Saturdays. Oh well. I think the teachers wouldn't be too severe (just found out my favorite is teaching one of them - the 730 which I was having second doubts on since it's so /damn early/ - but since it's him, the tensai, I'll force myself to come to class). Well, there is one whom I really... don't like too much, though. We have to wear formal clothes once a week? WTH is that all about? It's still college, man! Stop forcing us to act so stiffly this early on. (Really, it's talent that makes a student not the clothes, you hentai! Grr!) ...At least we just get merits for that optional clothes thing, not demerits. Grr...

Replaying Suikoden (I) now and I'm about at the end. I think I nearly recruited all the characters, which is good. Hah, I feel for Humphrey, Futch, Leon Silverberg and others now than I did in the past. (And of course, it's so nice to see Luc - and now I get it why people pair him with McDohl, hah.) Overload of info from Suikosource.com that's why. It's so great when characters have such rich histories...

Speaking of Suikoden... Suikoden IV! It's been announced! Have I mentoned this before? Well, I'm mentioning it now, damn it! It'll be set in the Island Nations, located far south of Toran and Kanakan (where the famous wines are from!). I'm expecting the Queendom of Falena and perhaps the Black Dragon Island to show up perhaps. That'll be nice. I hope they bring back the cook-offs and the theatre! (And GS2-like war battles would be nice - even though they'll be /naval battles/, yay!) Mwahaha... The rune featured this time would be the Punishment Rune. And I think I'm assured of three things now: [1] that it will be a serious game (unlike GSIII!), [2] that it will be ultra-angsty (unlike GSIII - except for the very end, heh), [3] that Snow and Hero will be featured in lots and lots of yaoi fics. *sniggers* ...Also, look at Hero IV's clothes. Look at those legs... Haha. (Oh and he'll use twin kodachis, heh). And I know what I'll call him this early on - I've been thinking of his name. I'll name him either "Wolf" or "Crow". I think I'm vying for the latter though since I suspect that he'll be very angsty and the name would fit him /very well/. Here's the link to the preview:
[Gensou Suikoden IV]

Oh yeah, I finished one book:
Tehanu - Ursula Le Guin

...And I honestly have to say that Le Guin is among my favorite authors. She's just that good. Her focus is like Suikoden's - that it looks into little details that ultimately matter in the big picture (focus on how humanity thrives, really), instead of just focusing on great-scale things like end of the world, etc.

Long time no blog eh... Sorry, it was my 3-week vacation and my PC at home was being uncooperative. My keyboard isn't working properly! Can you imagine? ...Well, it's my fault, actually. I spilled water on it accidentally. -.-; I'll have to find a screwdriver later on and try to fix it. (Yeah, that means I'm unable to write anything too! Grr!)

Anyway, guess what! I bought 'Arc the Lad: Twilight of the Spirits' recently and finished it... yesterday! What a great game that was. Fantastic music (I personally liked the battle themes - electric guitars and violins, how cool is that? - and the melancholic main theme song). Great characters (Darc!!! ...And Maru too. Heh.). Excellent storyline (Not the 'save the world' cliché, mind you, but the storyline revolving around Kharg and Darc. Also, the racial prejudice/misconception was a powerful theme.). Superb gameplay (It's a strategic RPG, yay! My favorite kind. You actually have to think, yay. Not just push this button and that or hack-and-slash. But it's a lot like Suikoden 2's battles or FF Tactics... just that it's in 3D and there's no square grids but you could move freely)... And the most important part of the game... Darc! He's just screaming uke in my mind. *dark laughter* I mean, he wears a skimpy skirt *snickers*, he's half-demon, he has a slave collar, he had wings (mwehehehe), he's an abused slave, humans /and/ deimos (demons) are prejudiced against him, he's half-deimos, people keep stabbing him in the back (no pun intended! ;P), and people keep dying on him... I probably gave away some spoilers - sorry! Ahaha... who to pair him with though? Kharg? *snickers* That'd be fitting despite the fact that it would be.... *spoiler* .....incest! ...Or it could be Droguza. Or Darkham? Hmm... Or Geedo could work her collar on him and offer him to her interested guests. Hah.

Oh yeah, I've finished a few books too:
- A Wind in the Door - Madeline L'Engle
- The Other Wind - Ursula Le Guin
- Coraline - Neil Gaiman

And those are the only ones I could remember. (My personal fave among these three is 'The Other Wind' because of Ged the domesticated former mage - heh - the sweet and ripe peaches and plums - and the cute kitten named Tug)... I'm reading 'A Swiftly Tilting Planet' by Madeline L'Engle, at the moment.

School started yesterday for me. I've got 15 units though I'll add more. They're all major subjects... Anyway, no teacher had appeared in any of the subjects yet. Others are still enrolling, that's why.

Also, my last remaining grandparent died last week. My mother's father. Went to see him one last time this weekend. Before he died, he said that he could see our other dead relatives waiting for him in the other side...

And that's all...

Music: Zzzz...Boring Radio Music....zzZZzzz...
Surfing: Lady Gackt's FF7 Movie Scans

FF7 is going to be made into a movie! ...Well, it already is being made into one. It'll be out on Summer 2004 and LG scanned some pics of them *points above to the link*, so I went to take a look and sure enough, I saw. It looks quite promising. I'm really looking forward to this one. The background scenes are spectacular and proper, dark and desolate. *nods in approval*

Anyway, last night was the first night I spent at home /sleeping/ after a long time. Needless to say, I dropped off right after watching Chessmaster Hex beat Ed (CB #14). Couldn't even reach the PC in time to turn it off... But anyway, at least our project is /done/! Yay. I did all of the documentation, most of the animation, and some of the other parts of the algorithm. No more overnights for a long time. Our defense is in one hour and fifteen minutes. ...That is not to say, however, that the project was complete. We completed one program (the one on C) but not the one in Visual Basic. But compared to other groups, that's quite a lot already. Hopefully, everything will be okay...

Yesterday was quite a strange experience while coming home with a groupmate in a cab. The driver was /obviously/ a novice and I was kind of at the edge of my seat since we were driving near a lot of cliffs. He turns the car very sharply and drives off the side of the road and there was one scare even where he almost smashed the car into the one we were following... I almost wanted to grab the wheel from him and let him stay in the front passanger seat instead (where I was). During the times when he had a problem with the gears (which made the car hitch again and again), I had to restrain myself from asking him if it was his first time driving... Oh well. At least we survived. *phew*

Our break's nearing. Good news. Just one more week of exams after this week and I'm free (for 3 weeks anyway). I'm looking forward to going back to Tae Kwon Do and joining Aikido trainings. And I'm anticipating days where there will be an abundance of /uninterrupted/ sleep. That'll be heaven. And of course some free days of fic-writing. *grins* Wonderful. I can't wait to finish the Okita/Ru I'm doing in my (meager) spare time. They're just begging to be slashed...in America. *snickers*

Music: Like a Stone - Audioslave
Surfing: n/a

Finished reading lots of things lately:
- Chronicles of Narnia - CS Lewis
- A Wizard of Earthsea - Ursula LeGuin
- Only Time - J. Marie
- Alice - Mami-san

I really liked 'Chronicles of Narnia'. Wonderful writing and plot. My favorite book was 'A Horse and His Boy' since it seemed to be the most practical. It made the world of Narnia more believable, and more three-dimensional as we get to travel through deserts, mountains, a great city and forests. The (Middle East) culture was very rich and the way people acted was quite believable. The main characters were great too. I believe Aravis was more three-dimensional and believable than Susan would ever be. The talking horses Bree and Hwin were such great personalities too that you sometimes forget that they're horses at all. And not to mention Shasta! He was my favorite character in all the seven books. He was such a good kid, honest, humble... but w/ such a great fate he /deserved/. *grins* My other favorite characters were Aslan (of course), Lucy and Reepicheep (that cut tail scene was just so /him/). Special mention would be Eustace because he was amusing, especially in (for some reason) 'Voyage of the Dawn Treader' (my 2nd fave book), as well as King Peter, since he was so... kingly. Hah. My third fave book was 'The Last Battle' btw since the end was so nice...

'A Wizard of Earthsea' was really a good book. *nods* People who have a low attention span may not like it since it's mostly narration w/ not a lot of conversations. But Ged was a really good main character and his character development was wonderful. He reminded me at first of Sakuragi ¬_¬ because of his rashness and his evil temper. But he's so much more intelligent(!) and talented(!). He was also power-hungry, in a way that was believable and almost admirable. I liked the way he resolved his problem. That was really cool... Wish I could find 'Tombs of Atuan'. That's next in the Earthsea trilogy.

Finally finished 'Only Time'. I like Tasuki but I /adored/ Nakago. He's my favorite FY character, after all. XP Wish I could see him as uke (since he's so cold and yet, very angsty)... but he's so seme that it's kinda impossible, I suppose. Well, there's the emperor but... -.-;; ...Anyway, I liked the story. I read it for two days, reading from the beginning again. Though... it kind of got uh... hmm... the ending wasn't for me, I suppose. Dead should stay dead, though I suppose that's fanfiction/magical world for you. Also, Tasuki tends to be pushed to be the hero always... It was supposed to be Nakago's golden moment! (Nakago!) ...And Tasuki cries /far/ too much. Granted, he /does/ cry in the series. It just gets repetitive when he cries every two seconds in succeeding chapters. ...He's not a waterfall, you know. (Doesn't he get to drink once in awhile to restock his tear supply?) But oh well.

'Alice', I liked better. *grins* The angst was wonderful and well-placed. The ending was so fantastic too. I didn't quite expect that. Just so /good/. *speechless*

...Oh yeah, I've been really busy these past few weeks. Lots of overnights in other houses doing projects. *yawns* I liked staying in the big house in *bleep* though. ;P The view of the mountains was really nice. And the air is so fresh there. I felt so energized when we left the place early in the morning. We had to walk through an old road surrounded by pine trees. And the recently risen sun slanted through the trees and it smelled so /fresh/. And the temperature was so cool and crisp... And we all kind of laughed when I mentioned that in the beautiful backdrop of sunlight slanting through trees, there was a whole graveyard full of white crosses. Hah, yeah, we were in an area full of ghosts and graves. But who cares? That's what made the scene more prominent. I think that memory would be stuck in my mind for the rest of my life.

{ 11:01 p.m. | Thursday, September 18, 2003 }

Typhoon's coming here tonight; a fierce Hurricane's coming towards my sister's new house - I hope they'll be safe. My mind is far too messy and my eyes are aching a bit. I need to sleep or find something to do. I've just written parts of a new humor fic, and have re-read and enjoyed the whole log of Desert Rose.

Not a lot of people on tonight in the chat programs, mostly half-strangers I've spoken a word with just a few times. I need to speak with someone, need to feel human. I'm going crazy, but then, you already knew that.

Too many dogs going in and out of the yard, visitors of my pet b****. Well, she is a female dog, after all, but it still amazes me how dogs could invite each other in the homes of their masters, bypassing the intricate locks of gates and such. The younger dog I once named Yuber has been brainwashed into being called Spot by my father but that's fine. She's rather sweet and loves to play around -- far too much sometimes that I'm tempted to give her Ritalin. Sometimes she jumps up on wrong moments, like on rainy days, her gritty paw prints marking my clothes, but I don't mind even if I'm on my way out of the house. She's innocent, an overgrown kid whom I still call a baby dog, because she was just born months ago, and just happens to be as big as her mother now.

The cats are always in one corner in the terrace, above the plastic cooler, all lying together close, as if constantly posing for the camera. The moment I leave the house, they're there, and when I come back, it's the same. They're too cute for their sakes.

Read Prince Caspian and Voyage of the Dawn Treader, so I would say that I'm nearly halfway through the Chronicles of Narnia. I enjoyed all the three books I've read so far but I must say that my favorite is the Dawn Treader, followed very closely behind by Prince Caspian. VotDT is a sea adventure after all, much tamer than Slave Dancer, yes, but all the same, sea adventures are quite nice. It reminds me of the South China Sea, which is salty when breathed in, and warm, and comforting in its colors. Where the sun sets every day.

Narnia reminds me of the precious few memories I have of my father's father, when he was still alive. He used to tell me stories of elves and dwarves, those cast out from heaven like the demons long ago. They're still there but there's not a lot who believe any more, and so, probably, that's why they don't appear as much as they used to. But the stories of the merfolk in the islands of the South China Sea are still a popular story and people would swear with their lives that at nights, they would hear the most beautiful songs from islands secluded enough that no human could possibly inhabit it, except, perhaps, merpeople.

Up here, in Highlands, ghosts prevail. There are too many tragedies in trees, and some are cursed enough to kill those who attempt to cut them down. But mostly, there are haunted houses, like our neighbor's, as well as many graveyards. The land beneath our feet are stained by the blood of warriors. The mountains are the home of the fighters of the land, proud to never be conquered by colonizers, unlike the low-landers. But they are not my roots. Father said that before our grandfathers settled in his island hometown, we came from the warrior clans of Visayas, and what comes to mind is the Shri-Visayan Empire, a great clan in Ancient Asia. But through the years, blood of Japanese, Chinese, Spaniards, American -- they may have mingled as well.

And I stopped making sense hours ago.

--> Fic? Will it progress to more? Me don't know. Rated G.

Tentative Title: "The City of Angels" [*cough* how original...]

Sun glared as only sun could glare in that brilliant morning, by the side of the eastern side of the Pacific Ocean -- that's right. East Pacific Ocean, which meant that finally - /finally/ - he had come to American shores.

Salty wind blew towards his face as he faced the sea, brushing his fine black hair back, caressing his skin and making him shut his eyes immediately when he felt specks of sand flying with the breeze inside his eyelids. He reached up with one hand to rub at an eye that suddenly stung because of the caught sand --

-- But was immediately lurched forward by the force of four little mutts on leashes, making him stumble forward to keep up with their pace, while trying still to rub his eye vainly with a fist, so as to take that annoying speck of /sand/ away...

Yes, he was a dog-walker. You heard that right. /Dog walker/. Stop laughing. He was just a student, after all, and in a city like Los Angeles, you certainly have to do everything you could to get the money you need to keep up with the high prices and the standard of living. And so, he had taken the first job he could find and was led to the suburbs in the hills, where a nice old lady asked him to walk her four canines every morning -- which wasn't that bad really, except that he /preferred/ cats because they were well, less wild, cuter, furrier... And all that. Not that he was complaining, of course. After all, you don't actually walk cats, do you?

One of the dogs stopped, a cute little Welsh Corgi that reminded him too much of the dog aboard Bebop, in the anime 'Cowboy Bebop', which he used to follow when he still lived in Japan. The little male dog squatted and --

/No!!! Not here, damn you little --/

When the dog was finished with its business, Kaede made a face and reached for the plastic bag that the old lady had given him before he and the mutts left her house earlier that day, something that she had said was for 'little accidents'. He eyed the accident - it certainly wasn't /little/. Holding his breath, he leaned down and cleaned up the dog's mess.

to be continued...?

***

A/N: Hah! A new kind of torture! Humor! *snickers* And dog-walking. Heh. So what pair will this feature? Well, think. Kaede's in America now. What are the possibilities? Heh. Let's see if I could think up of more ideas for this 'mini fic' -- something to keep me occupied while waiting for classes in school. Heh, after all, I really can't write hardcore stuff in a terminal with so many innocent (yeah right!) minds around. *grins*
